Summer inspiration - French 1960's.

A couple of summers ago I was very inspired by late Californian 1960's style (perfected by Michelle Phillips and Sharon Tate) but this summer I'm leaning more towards the French style;

In fact, both 'La Piscine' and 'Bonjour Tristesse' are so beautiful, stylish and inspirational that I might make separate posts dedicated to both of them - download, rent or buy!

Harry Potter Studio Tour Film.

As a surprise birthday gift to my friend Hanna, I had bought two tickets to the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden (other films that have been shot there inlude A Streetcar named Desire, A Clockwork Orange and Casablanca!) 

So, on a very hangover Saturday evening we took the wrong train from Euston Station. Luckily, our friend Jack lived in the area and was nice enought to drive us there which meant we just made it in time! Anyway, the tour was incredible and even if you don't like the films, the props are so amazing that it feels like you are stepping right inside the books which felt like heaven, will post pictures later but for now I made a short film of the experience:

New York Film. 

When in New York, I decided that it was time to start using the video-camera on my phone. Said and done; below is  a video I cut of the clips. Might be a snoozefest for most people except for me, Emina and our parents but whatever! 


NYC Film

Film of the Day.

A film set in 1970's Sweden about a woman in an abusive relationshop who flees her alcoholic husband and starts living in the commune her hippie-brother is staying in. Moodysson's portrayal of all the people living in the house and those surrounding them is so loving, sad, funny and touching. The whole film is amazing and has a great end-scene with ABBA's song 'SOS' playing in the background. Just see it.

Book of the Day.

'Please Kill Me' was my Bible for many, many years. I have read and re-read the stories of what went on in 1970's New York in the Chelsea Hotel, CBGB's and The Factory so many times I know them backwards. A review on the book stated something along the lines of 'the best book ever written about rock'n'roll, but not a word on the music', which pretty much sums it up.If you are even remotely interested in popular culture or music this book is a must-read. Also, the stories of The Velvet Underground, Blondie, Television, New York Dolls, Pattie Smith, The Ramones, Bowie and many more are told from the artists own perspective. You also get a dose of William Burroughs and Truman Capote in it, what more can you ask for? 

PS. According to IMDB, a film on CBGB's is in the making which could be interesting, but then I  read that it is starring Malin Åkerman as Debbie Harry. Cringe. 

'Berlin is Poor, but Sexy' 

When I came back from Berlin about a month ago, I booked a ticket back the day after - and now there's only one week to go to the next visit! Am very excited, loads of lovely and fun people will be in town and we got tickets to see The Brian Jonestown Massacre on the Monday.


My last visit to Berlin looked something like this:
